A Spring Update from MY Neighbors

Published on 5/5/2018

Here is a spring update from MY Neighbors:

As of early May, 53 Volunteers are providing services to 69 Members with an additional five memberships in process.  We are excited about the increased interest in membership and our Membership Committee folks are working hard to get new Members signed up. A special shout-out is in order to Karin Rolett who is working tirelessly with the Member Intake folks to meet with prospective Members.  Our nine Intake Volunteers are doing a terrific job and are finding the home visits and interviews to be gratifying and interesting.

We also oriented four new Volunteers this spring and are always on the lookout for more.  Word of mouth is our best advertising.  If you know of anyone who might be interested in Volunteering please send them our way.  Volunteers can choose the tasks they do and the schedule that is convenient for them.

A year has passed since we opened to the public, so a number of you have received membership renewal information in the mail.  With each additional Member we grow closer to our goal of becoming financially self-supporting through membership fees. Every member is important to us, so we hope you will continue to support MY Neighbors by renewing your membership.

Our annual membership fee remains $100 for an individual or $150 per family unit.  And a reminder that while the membership dues help us pay our modest bills, the fee is not intended to be an obstacle to membership. If finances are a problem please contact us and someone from the Membership Committee will be in touch with you.

Remember to visit the MY Neighbors web site (myneighbors.cc) for information on upcoming

social events and programming. We are planning a Volunteer Appreciation picnic at Carolina Hemlocks Pavilion on Friday, June 1 from 5:30-7:00 pm.  All Members and Volunteers are welcome.

Thank you for joining us in our first year of operating an all-volunteer eldercare network in Yancey County.
